Being my second visit to Yu, I more or less know what to order and what to avoid :) So these are the delicacies I chose for my late lunch, having a rough check-in at the hotel prior.
Caviar & Crab Essence Dumpling RM 13 (鱼子蟹粉饺)
I love how the sauce complements the delicately made dumpling - pleasant to the eye and tongue.
My table setting with the appetizer, sauce and tea
They used to provide a beautiful spread of sauces for us to enjoy our dishes with, I guess this has been withdrawn with the development of Covid situation to minimize the exposure.
Jasmine Tea RM4
Pleasant aromatic Jasmine tea just right to go with all the food I'm going to enjoy
Appetizer of the day - Cold Cabbage
I did not like this any bit, cold and sour
Yu Sushi RM 12 (御寿司)
This is the classic Sushi dish by Yu which I enjoy. It is a combination of Nasi Lemak Sushi and Hainan Chicken Rice Sushi. They are like 2 pieces of artwork.
'Mapo' Tofu with Rice in Claypot RM 17 (麻婆豆腐煲仔饭)
I have a soft spot for Mapo Tofu 麻婆豆腐 so I couldn't help but order it even though I doubt I could finish all the food 😅 End up the mapo tofu did not live up to my expectations at all and it did not taste anything like mapo tofu. I ended up tapao-ing this back for dinner.
Imperial Har Kau RM 10.80 (水晶虾饺皇)
This was very yummy - big portion with fillings that were fresh, bouncy, juicy, and skin made just at the right thickness and texture.
Cheongfun with Crispy Spring Roll & Prawn RM 14 (黄金脆米网虾肠粉)
I enjoyed this as well and not many dim sum places serve this. Cheongfun was soft while the spring roll was crispy - perfect.
Tofu Flower 鲜鲍带子清酸辣“豆腐花” RM 38
My every visit to Yu must be accompanied by a hot soup that is good for the tummy. This time I opted for the infamous Tofu Flower which is famous for the effect of flower in the soup when it is being poured onto the bowl. It is made with abalone and scallops along mini tofu cubes. Very tasty and nourishing soup indeed.
This is a backdated visit in end September, I will be blogging about my first visit in a separate post, stay tuned!
