Kafka @ Edgecumbe

Thanks to my 2 dearies, I had the privilege to enjoy a wonderful belated birthday lunch with their company 💕

We were quite happy with all of our selections, namely:-

 Iberico Pork Ribs RM 61,90
Barbecue glazed pork ribs slow cooked in the oven and then broiled to perfection. Served with sweet potato fries and corn.

This is one helluva pork rib, what more it is Iberico! It is cooked to perfection, charred on the surface while tender on the meat. Well done to the chef. It comes highly recommended from me and I will be coming back again no doubt. I love the sweet potato fries too, and I never fancied potato fries.

Crispy Deep Fried Breaded Mushrooms RM 17.90
These are yummy indeed, crispy crust and juicy mushroom flesh, perfectly complemented by their wasabi mayo.

Kafka's BLT RM 24.90
Crusty bread layered with smoked pork bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, topped with sunny side up and served with french fries
This BLT is a bliss to enjoy too, yummy bacon, sunny side with the crusty bread.

Dorene always kind enough to help us cut - everytime to perfection 👍

Fettucine Carbonara with Seafood RM 28,90
I'm never a big fan of Carbonara so, this is alright for me :)

Basque Burnt Cheese Cake and Carrot Cake
Thanks to my dearies for the birthday celebration! Namaste 🙏

Laid back interior and ambience

YU 御 by RuYi @ The Gardens Mall

Being my second visit to Yu, I more or less know what to order and what to avoid :) So these are the delicacies I chose for my late lunch, having a rough check-in at the hotel prior.

Caviar & Crab Essence Dumpling RM 13 (鱼子蟹粉饺)
I love how the sauce complements the delicately made dumpling - pleasant to the eye and tongue.

My table setting with the appetizer, sauce and tea
They used to provide a beautiful spread of sauces for us to enjoy our dishes with, I guess this has been withdrawn with the development of Covid situation to minimize the exposure.

  Jasmine Tea RM4
Pleasant aromatic Jasmine tea just right to go with all the food I'm going to enjoy

Appetizer of the day - Cold Cabbage
I did not like this any bit, cold and sour

Yu Sushi RM 12 (御寿司)
This is the classic Sushi dish by Yu which I enjoy. It is a combination of Nasi Lemak Sushi and Hainan Chicken Rice Sushi. They are like 2 pieces of artwork.

'Mapo' Tofu with Rice in Claypot RM 17 (麻婆豆腐煲仔饭)
I have a soft spot for Mapo Tofu 麻婆豆腐 so I couldn't help but order it even though I doubt I could finish all the food 😅 End up the mapo tofu did not live up to my expectations at all and it did not taste anything like mapo tofu. I ended up tapao-ing this back for dinner.

Imperial Har Kau RM 10.80  (水晶虾饺皇)
This was very yummy - big portion with fillings that were fresh, bouncy, juicy, and skin made just at the right thickness and texture.

Cheongfun with Crispy Spring Roll & Prawn RM 14 (黄金脆米网虾肠粉)
I enjoyed this as well and not many dim sum places serve this. Cheongfun was soft while the spring roll was crispy - perfect.

Tofu Flower  鲜鲍带子清酸辣“豆腐花” RM 38
My every visit to Yu must be accompanied by a hot soup that is good for the tummy. This time I opted for the infamous Tofu Flower which is famous for the effect of flower in the soup when it is being poured onto the bowl. It is made with abalone and scallops along mini tofu cubes. Very tasty and nourishing soup indeed.

This is a backdated visit in end September, I will be blogging about my first visit in a separate post, stay tuned!

Iketeru @ Hilton Kuala Lumpur

During my training trip in KL, I ordered Grab Food almost every evening as the Covid19 numbers were increasing, but there was an evening which saw a heavy downpour and my Grab Food order took forever without any updates. It took me a long time to find a support number to call and have my order cancelled before I walked downstairs to have my dinner at Iketeru.

Iketeru is the Japanese restaurant within Hilton KL, I have seen the hefty price tag of their menu but I was literally starving and needed a lot of brain juice to finish my revision for exam the next day so what the heck!

The interior was classy, with an aquarium on the left after the entrance, and there was a Teppanyaki station on the right, a Sushi and Sashimi station right across from the main entrance as well.

Having studied the menu a little (mainly over the price), I settled for..

Clam red miso soup (Asari Akadashi) RM 45

On a cold rainy night, I couldn't have asked for more. The broth was flavorful, clams cooked just right and I enjoyed this to the last drop

Grilled Salmon with Salt (Salmon Shioyaki) - RM 62

You can opt for Salt or Teriyaki. To me, Teriyaki doesn't bring out the best of grilled salmon so I went for the Salt. When this was served I was so impressed with how the skin was so crispy. The salmon flesh was grilled to perfection - tender yet smoky. I literally peeled the flesh layer by layer as I enjoyed this dish. This piece of grilled salmon is definitely by far the best I had for a long time.

After devouring, erm, I mean enjoying the flesh, I saved the skin for last - it only left me craving for MORE

Crab Fried Rice RM 30

The fried rice was good, it had the Wok Hei but paled slightly in comparison with the soup and salmon, simply because I did not see real crab meat but rather artificial crab stick. Quite disappointed since this is a rather established restaurant serving food with an expensive price tag.

There's my meal

Lastly, ended my meal with Sesame Ice Cream (Kuro Goma ice cream) RM19 as recommended by the staff, with Red Bean Paste topping (Kintoki) RM9
The ice cream was divine - I loved every bit of it. I didn't like the red bean paste that much - it is too sweet to my liking.

I hope to be back again for their grilled salmon - it is just too good!

Sugar Tang 糖书阁

Had a long overdue catch up with my dear friend last Sat. She loves the Latte at Sugar Tang so we decided to have our dinner here.

One of the friendly staff gave me a run-through of their menu which includes their CMCO promo menu. These are what we settled for the evening:-

My Uji Matcha Latte was a bliss. Never thought I'd enjoy green tea this much, and I ended up having a sleepless night since I am caffeine intolerant lol

Her Latte, of course. It looked pretty and I'm sure it tasted good too.

We went for their Double Happiness promo of 2 Plain Tauhua for RM 11.90, and she only told me the Tauhua Pudding was better after I dug into my tauhua 😒

After contemplating for some time, I decided to go for the 'very spicy' Spicy Mala Chicken RM14.90, which I find not that spicy afterall. We both agreed this dish was pretty good.

Her Gyoza. Not bad too

We also shared a dessert - Tiramisu. Of course it could not match to Bella Italia's famous Tiramisu, but good try.

Simple Interior and ambience

Overall verdict? It was quite a pleasant meal, needless to say because I had a great company. I will definitely be back for more, hopefully with the same person :)
